Good grief this one took long enough. I've been long overdue (we're talking years here) for making a decent piece of artwork for my dad and for Christmas I promised him a felted something was coming his way in the near future. This is that something
The cat herself is Coco, my family's cat who we got as a kitten when I was in 2rd grade. Coco passed away recently and as my dad especially had a fondness for her, I felt it was an appropriate gift.
I'm not 100% happy with it...there are little things that are anatomically off and they glare at me horribly, little things that are slightly the wrong size or the wrong shape. But honestly I could probably sit and work on this thing forever and never be totally satisfied with it, so I decided to call it done for now.
I couldn't tell you where every bit of fiber in her comes from...but I know there's alpaca, sheep and llama all involved somehow. She's felted pretty densely so is quite solid.
Oh and also I finally put in the effort to time myself on this one: 45.63 hours. Yeesh.
Absolutely stunning - I thought the thumbnail photo in the deviantart search was of a real cat, it's so lifelike! You father must have been so touched to have received such a beautiful gift.
