Every year my school has a big Halloween celebration where everyone can dress up, and while I don't usually do anything, I figured I ought to wear something a little different as its my last year at high school. What I really wanted to do was bring my little rat Cinder to school, but I didn't think the faculty would appreciate seeing little Cinderblock on my shoulder all day. So what do you do when you can't bring in the real thing? You make your own. Which is precisely what I did. Got home from school on Thursday, decided I wanted a shoulder rat and promptly started cutting out fabric. The ears were felt, the feet and nose were clay, and the tail is a big piece of rope with a wire inside with a tea-bag-stained (to get the color right) bit of pantyhose around the rope for texture. And the whiskers are fishing wire. And the eyes are beads. Started it right when I got home from school and finished it right before bed, I daresay I rather like how it came out My friends think I should make more and sell them but eh, who knows. I wore it on my shoulder all day with the tail around my neck, and everyone loved it...actually some people though it was real
