Bam, 1 down...4 to go. :O This is Wishbone, commissioned by a fellow student. I don't know the dog personally, but it definitely is one cute little bugger if you ask me... This is an 11x14 portrait done all with an itty bitty mechanical pencil (my friend) that took me at least a month or two to finish, though I didn't make note of the exact length of time (I have to start doing that). The person who commissioned it was very nice and didn't push for time restraints at all, which I am very thankful for, especially because of the carpload of projects my teachers had loaded me up with in the past few weeks. I am not sure if it is completely finished yet, which is why I'm posting it up here for my trusty critiquers to examine :D If you guys see anything that needs changing (that is possible to do...something like adjusting the placement of an eye would be impossible) don't hesitate to bring it up! I think I need to darken that right ear and the left part of the body (the dog's chest is covered in fluff, not fat). Some things may be a teensy bit off as I edited the picture a bit (changed the direction of the dog's gaze) and a couple of other minor details. Do critique all you want!

lovely! the fur and eyes are divine. How in the world did you get such a beautiful scan? It doesn't look as if it has killed any of the detail!

absolutely incredible work! i wish i had a critique to offer, but i'm afraid i don't. that's just amazing!

The picture is absolutely stunning! The detail of the piece is just remarkable. I'm really impressed by how well you were able to catch the texture of the fur, that tends to be hard to do in a drawing. The only thing I'd be concerned about was the width of the body, it seems as though the dog is a blob after its neck, but I'm sure that's just the way it was laying down or whatever. ^_^

Oh wow! That's absolutely amazing, the texture in the fur in particular. The eyes are beautifully expressive as well.

It's a pretty nice scanner, twas a gift from my dad :) It's a fairly high quality HP scanner....it's fabulous at catching the details of stuff!

Yeah, I was very concerned with that too...I really should have cropped the picture differently to prevent that from happening. It's like that in the picture too, but not as noticeable because you can see more of the dog's body (the legs become visible right below the cutoff of the drawing). That was my bad entirely, and I don't really know how to fix it. *sigh* I guess I know what NOT to do next time...I need to plan stuff more betterly.

I must agree with everyone else. This is brilliant.
What medium? It looks to be charcoal from a thumbnail but the clarity makes me think mechanical pencil..am I right? Wow. Just amazing. Congrats on executing yet another fine piece. :3

I don't think it has anything to do with the way you planned it, it's just how the dog was laying at the time.
